Wednesday night was the annual RI Club Championship. And before we go into details I should start with congratulations to Drew who was the winner!!! A massive thanks also goes out to Perry for helping with marking even though he was injured and to Ian for organising.
Before we even started there was the mystery around how the handicap was going to work and Ian’s ability to calculate one. And this year he did an excellent job. The scores can be seen in the picture below and it was very close (other than Ian’s own score).
The format was everyone plays everyone in a 12 minute game and you aim to score as many points as possible. This was a “No mercy” event as I warned Peter before we started playing. During that game Peter then employed the time wasting tactic of hitting the ball out of court and down the stairs! Peter also asked Ian at one point if he knew it was a handicap game!!
There were some great games. Jess played well to beat Ian which he was very complimentary about and says its the first time someone from the RI has beaten him since 2024…..well done Jess
