Unfortunately Christian was ill (I suspect it was illness caused by emotional outpouring from his first victory) so we headed to Kirkbymoorside with just 3 players.
My start was not very auspicious as I’d forgotten to bring any shorts so had to play in the tracky bottoms I’dd worn there 😞. Luckily I still managed to get a 3-1 victory against Graham who struggled with returning my serve.
After me Ian played on the same court and strolled to a 3-0 victory.
All the while, on the other court Perry was playing another 5 set classic (which Jess always predicts to me but never gets right but would have been right tonight 😂). I think the guy was Andy and he had a decent energy level and got round the court well. There was some hard hitting from Perry but they generally came back. It was a great watch but unfortunately Perry lost in the 5th.
There was then pizza and chips in the viewing gallery afterwards with a bit of a chat.
The journey home was a bit subdued but equally I was educated on the fact that the stamp booking system the RI used to use was the defacto approach for squash club bookings around the country! I’m sure Perry was thinking what the fuck are these old guys talking about stamps for 😁🤷♂️
